A committee of the New Jersey Senate has recommended passage of a bill that aims to promote pay equality for women by barring employers from asking would-be workers about their wage histories.

The bill, S-2536, sponsored by Sens. Nia Gill, D-Essex, and Loretta Weinberg, D-Bergen, passed the Senate Labor Committee in a 4-1 vote on Thursday.
