ALBANY – A Rockland County lawyer who was placed in the untenable position of defending a woman who was suing herself on behalf of an infant has come under harsh criticism from a Supreme Court justice.

Justice Thomas J. Spargo of Albany said that Stephen H. Slater, by “wearing two hats,” put his interests above those of his clients and violated the Code of Professional Responsibility.
