MINEOLA – Nassau County failed to correct unhealthy working conditions at the Nassau University Medical Center despite an arbitrator’s order to do so immediately, ruled a State Supreme Court justice, who has thrown out the county’s motion to vacate the decision.

State Supreme Court Justice Ute Wolff Lally has upheld an arbitrator’s decision issued a year ago, which found that roof leaks, mold, mildew, plaster dust, worn carpeting, and inadequate heating, air conditioning and sewage systems at the medical center were in violation of the county’s collective bargaining agreement with the Civil Service Employees Association.
