RIVERHEAD – A recent money judgment entered by State Supreme Court Justice James M. Catterson is believed to be the first against a company that has filed 46 allegedly fraudulent civil lawsuits on Long Island and in New York City in connection with an alleged scheme to procure loans that never materialized.

In a two-page decision in Deutsche Swiss Capital Corp. v Gillani Investments, 30472/00, Justice Catterson granted a $24,380 judgment to Gillani Investments, a commercial real estate developer based in Georgia. As in the other 45 suits, Deutsche Swiss Capital Corp. filed suit to discourage Gillani and other applicants from seeking return of procurement fees for loans that were never made, according to the Suffolk County district attorney. The company is also defending a criminal indictment.
