A Manhattan jury on Thursday awarded $71 million to a woman who was rendered paraplegic in a head-on collision that occurred after the driver of the car she was riding in fell asleep.

Following a three-week trial before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice James d’Auguste, a jury of three men and three women awarded Morgan Wang, a Brooklyn resident and former Cornell University student, $60 million for future medical expenses, $6 million for future pain and suffering and $5 million for past pain and suffering.
