A construction worker has reached a $3.8 million settlement with the Manhattan church where he was seriously injured after falling 45 feet while restoring a historic ceiling.

Humberto Trochez, who was doing plaster work on the ceiling in the Church of St. Stephen in 2014, settled his vicarious liability action leveled against the church under multiple sections of New York’s Labor Law, including §240(1), according to his lawyer, Steven Payne of Ginarte Gallardo Gonzalez & Winograd.
