The clerks of the 1,300 town and village courts in the state soon will face a mandatory continuing education program.

Under an amendment to the Rules of the Chief Judge, 22 NYCRR §17.2 issued by court administrators in January, the clerks will have to undergo annual training, devised by the state Office of Court Administration and offered online, OCA spokesman Lucian Chalfen said.
