A longtime Manhattan lawyer has resigned from the state bar following a disciplinary committee investigation for improperly taking more than $30,000 from a firm where he was a shareholder.

The Appellate Division, First Department, on Thursday accepted the resignation of Paul Alter, a founding partner of Greenberg Traurig’s New York City office. His name will be stricken from the rolls of attorneys, effective July 28, 2016, the date he swore to an affidavit of resignation.
