The Puerto Rican Bar Association held its annual fundraiser gala on Sept. 29 at Chelsea Piers. Bar president Betty Lugo, sixth from left, and president-elect Carmen Pacheco, seventh from left, joined members of the Latino Judges Association, which was recognized for judicial excellence.
Other honorees included Stephen Younger, a partner at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler, who received the Law Firm Diversity Award, and the late mambo and Latin jazz musician Tito Puente, whose family accepted the bar’s community service award in his honor. The City University of New York was recognized for academic excellence.
