In the run up to the retrial of two former Dewey & LeBoeuf executives, a Manhattan judge on Friday prevented defense lawyers and the prosecution from admitting certain evidence, while prosecutors said they would likely call expert witnesses this time around.

After a hung jury last year, former Dewey chief financial officer Joel Sanders and former executive director Stephen DiCarmine will be retried on Jan. 23, 2017 for scheme to defraud, securities fraud under the Martin Act and conspiracy charges. The lower-level felonies and misdemeanor do not carry a mandatory prison sentence.
