New York state would begin regulating and taxing fantasy sports operators under a bill approved overwhelmingly by the state Legislature.

The measure was the product of negotiations between the Assembly, the Senate and Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office, as well as its Senate sponsor, John Bonacic, who said Saturday he expects the governor will sign it. Cuomo has not indicated publicly if he supports or opposes the measure and a spokesman, Richard Azzopardi, said Monday the governor will review the proposal.
