The state Court of Appeals Thursday denied a summary judgment motion sought by the plaintiff in a legal malpractice suit against Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft stemming from advice the firm gave in the mid-2000s.

The 5-0 court in Red Zone v. Cadwalader, 5, modified an Appellate Division, First Department, panel’s 2014 holding that affirmed summary judgment for the plaintiff and a $17 million award against the firm.
