Newly filed court papers in the Dewey & LeBoeuf criminal case attempt to answer a central question dogging the indicted executives: Who pressed the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office to investigate Dewey’s finances amid its 2012 collapse?

On Tuesday, defense counsel for Dewey’s former chief financial officer, Joel Sanders, suggested two possibilities: John Moscow, a veteran of the DA’s office and a Baker & Hostetler partner; and Seth Farber, a former Dewey partner and head of litigation at Winston & Strawn’s New York office.
