ALBANY – A judge has refused to impose stricter restrictions on political contributions by limited liability companies in New York, ruling that it is up to the Legislature to close what government reformers call the “LLC loophole” after the state Board of Elections deadlocked on doing so last year.

Greene County Supreme Court Justice Lisa Fisher, sitting in Albany County, declined to intercede to compel LLCs to adhere to political contribution limits imposed on New York corporations rather than on individuals, as the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law and other plaintiffs sought.
