General Electric Co., which recently announced the move of its corporate headquarters from Connecticut to Boston, struck a deal Friday for its appliances business.

Haier Group Corp., a leading Chinese home appliance manufacturer. Haier has agreed to pay $5.4 billion in cash for GE’s appliance unit in a deal that reportedly makes it one of the largest acquisitions of a U.S. company by a Chinese entity.
