Law firms kept busy last year with a bounty of mergers & acquisitions. According to Thomson Reuters, worldwide M&A was up 47 percent to almost $3.5 trillion, making 2014 the strongest year for worldwide deal making since 2007. The increase was paced by 95 deals with a value greater than $5 billion, more than double the number of large deals announced in 2013. Thomson Reuters reported that the total number of 2014 deals was up 6 percent, for a total just over 40,400.
