The closure of the part-time federal courthouse in Middletown Wednesday has shifted proceedings an hour away across the Hudson River to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Poughkeepsie.

From 2005 to 2008, the Southern District held part-time court in the Common Council chambers at 25 South St., where a single magistrate judge presided. The court then moved to a privately owned renovated building in 2008, with a formal dedication in January 2009.
