Senate and Assembly negotiators have agreed on legislation that would add five Family Court judgeships in 2016 on top of the 20 authorized by the Legislature and Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the current state budget starting on Jan. 1, 2015.

The bill, A10139/S7883, would allocate the first 20 judgeships according to a recommendation made by the Office of Court Administration (NYLJ, May 16) with two changes: Single judgeships proposed by OCA in Erie and Monroe counties in 2015 would be deferred until Jan. 1, 2016.
