State Supreme Court Justice Thomas Breslin (See Profile) will become the new administrative judge for the Third Judicial District on March 1. Chief Administrative Judge A. Gail Prudenti (See Proflie) announced Monday that Breslin will succeed Justice Thomas Mercure (See Profile) as administrator for the courts in a seven-county Albany region.

Breslin, 67, joined the judiciary in 1990 as a Family Court judge and went on to serve for 19 years as Albany County Court judge before his election in 2011 to the Supreme Court bench. The University of Toledo College of Law graduate was previously an assistant district attorney and a public defender in Albany County.
