Emani Taylor, the attorney who was found to have taken more than $400,000 from the estate of the late Brooklyn Civil Court Judge John Phillips while serving as his court-appointed guardian, was disbarred by a unanimous appellate panel on Thursday.

The Appellate Division, First Department, panel granted a petition by the Departmental Disciplinary Committee to disbar Taylor, who was charged with helping herself to Phillips’ money and failing to keep records in violation of disciplinary rules 9-102(d) and 9-102(e), which concern handling of client funds.
