A disbarred attorney was sentenced Tuesday for pocketing more than $213,000 in clients’ settlement funds while offering excuses to clients for non-payment, including that he could not pay one client because a moose had hit his car.

Brian Reis, 53, was sentenced to two to six years by Acting Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Renee White. Reis pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud in September.
