U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan will appear as a special guest at an Oct. 25 panel discussion hosted by the Supreme Court Historical Society and the Historical Society of the New York Courts.

The event, titled “Learned in the Law: Role of the U.S. Solicitor General…a New York Point of View,” is set for the New York City Bar at 42 W. 44th St. The reception begins at 5 p.m. with opening remarks at 6. Speakers include Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman; former chief judge Judith Kaye of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom; a lecture by John Barrett, a professor at St. John’s University School of Law; and the panel discussion.
