A suspended Long Island attorney has been disbarred after submitting a resignation acknowledging he could not successfully defend himself against professional misconduct charges.

Howard Marc Sklar of Carle Place was disbarred by the Appellate Division, Second Department on Sept. 18 after being suspended by the court in November 2012. In his resignation, Sklar acknowledged he could not successfully fight misconduct charges including neglect of a legal matter and failure to comply with rules on escrow account maintenance such as failing to preserve client funds and maintain bookkeeping records.
