A judge has kept alive negligence claims filed against two retailers by a woman who was severely injured when she was hit by a shopping cart thrown off a fourth-floor walkway by two youths.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lucy Billings (See Profile) denied motions by Costco Wholesale Corp. and Bob's Discount Furniture to dismiss the negligence action filed by Marion Hedges for injuries she suffered on Oct. 30, 2011, while shopping at the East River Plaza in Manhattan.
