Two lawyers who represented a 94-year-old woman in a guardianship proceeding were sanctioned and ordered to pay about $40,640 in total costs for distorting and misrepresenting facts in court filings.

Burton Citak and Donald Citak represented the woman, referred to as E.D. in court papers, during a proceeding for the appointment of a guardian. Earlier this year, the Citaks, father and son in the Manhattan firm Citak & Citak, sought to challenge the integrity of the guardianship proceeding, a challenge Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Laura Visitacion-Lewis (See Profile) found to be "a full blown-attack" on the court and individuals involved in the case.
