Daniel Horwitz, a partner at Lankler Carragher & Horwitz, has been designated by Governor Andrew Cuomo as chairman of the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics. He succeeds Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore, who is resigning from the panel to devote more time to her reelection campaign, the governor said.

Horwitz was named to the commission by Cuomo in late 2011. Before going into private practice, he spent a decade in the frauds bureau of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and was once the legislative director to former U.S. Representative Thomas Downey.
