The headline of a News in Brief item yesterday on page 4 about allegations that parole officials had illegally denied release to former political consultant Hank Morris was incorrect. The headline should have read "Judge Agrees to Weigh Parole Compliance With Law," as the Columbia County judge did not schedule a hearing for today.

In yesterday’s Criminal Law and Procedure column, "2013 Gun Legislation: New Crimes and Enhanced Criminal Penalties," footnote 17 was not clear. It should have read:

17. L.2013, Ch.1 (adding 265.00(23)(b), (c) and 265.37) effective April 15, 2013, amended by Ch. 57, effective March 29, 2013. L.2013, Ch.1 added 265.00(23)(b), (c), a provision that expanded the definition of a "large capacity ammunition feeding device" as one that contains more than seven rounds of ammunition or has the capacity to hold more than seven rounds of ammunition. The effective date of these two provisions has been suspended. L.2013, Ch.1 also added 265.37 and was also amended by Ch. 57. Ch.1 contained a provision that prohibited the possession of "certain ammunition feeding devices" which was defined as a feeding device that has the capacity to accept more than seven but less than 10 rounds of ammunition. This provision under 265.37 was deleted by L.2013, Ch. 57.
