A lawyer who pleaded guilty to the felony of attempted dissemination of indecent material to a minor has been disbarred by the Appellate Division, Second Department. Daniel M. Gillen of Hingham, Mass., was arrested when he turned up at the Hudson Valley Mall in Ulster County for what he thought was a tryst with an underage girl. He actually had been communicating with a sheriff’s deputy.

Gillen pleaded guilty on Aug. 25, 2011, in Ulster County and was immediately sentenced to one year in jail. By virtue of his felony conviction his disbarment was automatic. Matter of Gillen, 2012-03873.
