In a move to further expand its web-based offerings, software company Oracle has agreed to acquire Taleo Corporation in a $1.9 billion deal for the maker of human resources software.

Taleo shareholders will receive $46 per share, including net debt, in the merger that is expected to be complete by the middle of the year. The company, based in Dublin, Calif., helps more than 5,000 organizations manage employee recruitment, performance management and compensation using cloud-based software.
