Attorneys who worked with lead plaintiff’s lawyer Steven Donziger to secure a multi-billion-dollar environmental damage judgment against Chevron in Ecuador have been ordered to turn over documents to Chevron as the oil company pursues its racketeering claim that the judgment was obtained by fraud.
Southern District Magistrate Judge James C. Francis ruled that attorneys Laura Garr, Andrew Woods, Joseph C. Kohn and his firm, Kohn, Swift & Graf, who are not defendants in the racketeering case, failed to make a showing that the documents are shielded by the attorney-client privilege and the work-product doctrine.
