Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman yesterday announced the arrival of two real estate partners from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. The pair—Wallace Schwartz, a veteran real estate transactional lawyer who headed Skadden’s global real estate practice, and real estate partner Adam Endick—will launch a corporate real estate practice at Kasowitz, which until now has been almost exclusively litigation-focused.

Marc Kasowitz, who co-founded the firm in 1993 and represents major real estate developers in big litigation, said the firm decided to branch out and create a new area after numerous clients asked whether the firm could provide transactional advice. Mr. Kasowitz does not yet have a precise target for how many lawyers will be hired in the group. “My sense is this will grow rapidly,” he said. “We fully expect to be doing large transactions. We’re going to build it out.” Mr. Schwartz said the group intends to hire four or five associates in the next few weeks.
