ALBANY – A stolen school computer discovered by police in a Bronx home is admissible as evidence against a 15-year-old resident, despite the “unlawful” way officers entered the home, a 4-3 Court of Appeals ruled yesterday.

The majority determined that the police had been voluntarily invited into the living area of the teen’s home. That eliminated the “taint” of a previous illegal entry into the building’s vestibule by police, who had not obtained a warrant and did not knock on the outer door.
