ALBANY – The state’s highest court yesterday let stand the guilty pleas of two sex offenders who argued that they had been unaware of the consequences of their admissions.

A 4-3 Court of Appeals concluded that mandatory registration as a sex offender and the imposition of terms and conditions of probation constitute collateral consequences of conviction, which a trial court is not obligated to discuss at a plea hearing.
