The former chair of Fish & Richardson’s venture and technology group moved to Chadbourne & Parke yesterday. Lori S. Hoberman joined Chadbourne as a partner in New York to lead a newly launched emerging company and venture capital team. The firm said the hire will fit in with its technology-based industry initiatives and its expanding intellectual property practice.

Ms. Hoberman said her move was prompted by the decision by Fish & Richardson to scale back its corporate practice. Known for its intellectual property emphasis, Fish & Richardson in August said it would cut most of its 14 corporate attorneys nationally, though it planned to maintain a small number in the Northeast. “They’re returning to more of their IP roots,” Ms. Hoberman said. “I think the world of Fish, it’s just not the right platform for me anymore.” Two associates, Robert J. Pelkowski Jr. and Joseph B. Ramadei, followed her to Chadbourne. Peter J. Devlin, president of Fish & Richardson, did not respond to a request for comment.
