The state Legislature passed a bill Monday that will require the courts to hold “tens of thousands” of additional pre-foreclosure settlement conferences.

The bill, A40007/S66007, which is expected to be signed by Governor David A. Paterson, makes settlement conferences mandatory for all borrowers, not just those who took out “subprime” or high-cost home loans.
