Charles Carneglia, the Gambino family hit-man convicted in March of murdering four men in separate incidents over the last three decades, was sentenced yesterday to life in prison by a federal judge in Brooklyn.

Although a jury deadlocked over whether Mr. Carneglia had killed a fifth man, state court officer Albert Gelb, the court allowed Mr. Gelb’s sister Emily to provide a statement at yesterday’s hearing on behalf of her family.
