The first requested judiciary budget under New York Chief Judge Rowan D. Wilson asks state lawmakers for more than $3.7 billion, including $2.7 billion in operating costs, for the fiscal year beginning on April 1.
It’s an increase from this year’s $3.4 billion budget, with portions of the requested 5% increase to operate the system dedicated to plugging holes in family and housing courts, while adding judicial and nonjudicial posts, including court officers, throughout the state.
