New York’s top court on Wednesday will hear its second redistricting case in 19 months, and a key observer New York Law School Professor Jeffrey Wice says he’ll be watching for a number of legal elements in the latest round.

The Court of Appeals is traveling from Albany to Buffalo to hear Hoffmann v. New York State Independent Redistricting Commission, with Republican intervenors asking for a reversal of the Appellate Division, Third Department’s 3-2 decision in July that sent congressional redistricting back to the state Independent Redistricting Commission and legislature for a new plan to be used in elections spanning 2024 to 2030.
