The New York attorney general’s sanctions motions against Donald Trump in the office’s civil fraud case against him is “utterly baseless” and should be dismissed, defense lawyers argued Friday in new filings that include a supporting affidavit by a retired Appellate Division judge.

“The motion boils down to one tired axiom: the best defense is a good offense,” the defense attorneys wrote.
