The umbrella company behind digital mortgage platform Better is facing a breach of contract lawsuit from a former employee, who claims the company reneged on their promise to reimburse him for legal fees he accrued while cooperating with a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into the company.

David Hauenstein filed his lawsuit Thursday in Manhattan Supreme Court, alleging defendants Better Holdco, Inc. and Better Home & Finance Holding Company have run afoul of a signed 2022 agreement to cover his legal bills.
