Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron on Wednesday denied a request to delay the attorney general’s civil fraud trial against Donald Trump and others scheduled to begin next month, writing that he found the defense motion “completely without merit.”

Defendants on Tuesday filed a motion to “briefly delay” the Oct. 2 start date, claiming the Attorney General’s Office was ignoring a June decision from the Appellate Division, First Department that dismissed certain claims as time-barred.
