A Long Island judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Suffolk County against disgraced former District Attorney Thomas Spota and others, ruling the county had no standing to sue under the claims asserted.

Suffolk County sued Spota, his bureau chief Christopher McPartland and ex-county police chief James Burke in March 2020. The lawsuit followed the criminal convictions of all three men on various charges related to their attempt to cover up Burke’s assault of a man in custody.
