A New York lawyer who served a one-year suspension for admitting to an inappropriate sexual relationship with a client in a divorce proceeding, and using an improper nonrefundable retainer fee, was reinstated on Thursday, but with a series of conditions for at least five years.

Alexander Shmulsky, who had offices in Saratoga and Essex counties, may return to practicing immediately, but not as a solo practitioner or partner, nor may he take matrimonial or family law cases, the Appellate Division, Third Department’s unanimous per curiam decision stipulated.
