Of the seven people on the shortlist to serve as New York’s next chief judge, only Judge Anthony Cannataro has had a dress rehearsal for the role.
Since August, Cannataro has served as acting chief judge, leading the court system on an interim basis while continuing to sit on the Court of Appeals, where he has been an associate judge since 2021.
