U.S. Justice Department Foreign Corrupt Practices Act Chief David Last said Tuesday that lawyers should expect updated guidance in the near future regarding the retention of information transferred via third-party messaging apps.

“In terms of the timing of the guidance, it will be soon, in the next couple months,” Last said at the International White Collar Crime Symposium in conversation with Debevoise & Plimpton partner Andrew M. Levine. The event took place in New York under the auspices of the New York City Bar Association and in partnership with the International Bar Association.
