The author and advice columnist E. Jean Carroll on Thursday filed a new lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, opening up a second front in litigation over her allegation that Trump raped her in a New York City department store in the 1990s.

The Adult Survivors Act, which was signed into law by Gov. Kathy Hochul in May, created a one-year look-back window during which survivors of sexual abuse can file civil claims that would otherwise be barred by the statute of limitations.
