New York Attorney General Letitia James on Tuesday announced the distribution of $80 million in payments from settlements with opioid distributors reached during New York’s bellwether opioid trial, which concluded with a verdict in favor of the plaintiffs in December.

“I want to be clear: there is more money coming,” James said, noting that the settlements with opioid manufacturers and distributors totaled approximately $1.5 billion, which will go toward opioid treatment and prevention efforts in the coming years.
