U.S. Circuit Judge Eunice C. Lee established herself as an active questioner Thursday in sitting for her first slate of oral arguments since being confirmed to the U.S Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Lee, the first former federal defender ever to serve on the Manhattan-based appeals court, peppered attorneys with a series of questions in three appeals Thursday morning, which highlighted both the range of cases before the influential Second Circuit and her potential role in addressing unsettled areas of criminal law.
