A group of 70 former New York federal prosecutors urged the U.S. Senate on Monday to confirm the nomination of Eunice Lee, the second Black woman and the first federal defender ever selected to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

In a letter to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, the attorneys, who served as assistant U.S. attorneys for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, called Lee a “brilliant, accomplished advocate, who is supremely well qualified to serve on the bench.”
