U.S. District Judge Thomas McAvoy of the Northern District of New York on Monday granted New York state officials’ motion to dismiss several claims brought by the National Rifle Association, but the gun-rights advocacy group argued that the preservation of its First Amendment claims represents a victory.

The ruling comes amid a variety of legal and regulatory battles in New York involving the NRA, which has announced plans to leave the state altogether and reincorporate in Texas.
